  • Bus 1 - Flutes

  • Bus 7 - Euphs, Tubas and 10 saxophones

Friday, October 4th, No School, Football vs. Manor @ Manor, 7:00pm start time

  • 3:00pm JV rehearsal in the stadium

  • 3:30pm V rehearsal on the practice field, then move to stadium at 3:55pm

  • 4:30pm Rehearsal ends, clear the stadium, head back to the band hall

  • 4:30pm Move Front Ensemble, Battery and Sousas to trucks, all else go on the bus

  • 4:40pm Get dressed in Full Uniform

  • 5:00pm Inspection in our areas

  • 5:20pm Waiting on the practice field for the buses

  • 5:30pm Depart for Manor

  • 6:25pm Arrive, quickly unload equipment, form lines and move into the stands

  • 7:00pm Game begins

  • 8:10pm (approx) Halftime, “Good Golly Miss Molly” for Dnettes, JV performs

  • 9:45pm (approx) Game ends, load equipment and buses, depart ASAP

  • 10:10pm (approx) Depart for RRHS

  • 10:40pm (approx) Arrive, unload trucks, store items properly, watch Halftime together 

  • 11:10am (approx) Go home, get some rest!

  • Bus 1 - Flutes, Clarinets and Trombones

Saturday, October 5th, Vista Ridge Marching Festival, Gupton Stadium

  • 6:15am - Report to Band Hall and dress in full uniform

  • 6:45am - Inspection in Band Hall

  • 6:50am - On practice field ready to depart

  • 7:00am - Depart for Gupton stadium

  • 7:30am - Arrive, unload, move to warm up

  • 7:45am - Warm up begins

  • 8:35am - At Gate

  • 8:45am - Perform at Vista Ridge Marching Festival

  • 9:00am - Water Station

  • 9:10am (approx) - reload trucks/buses

  • 9:30am (approx) - depart for RRHS

  • 10:00am (approx) - Arrive at RRHS, unload truck, store instrument and uniform properly

  • 5:00pm - Directors will send out prelims results via remind!

Wednesday, October 9th, Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally

  • 4:20pm School Ends, change into Summer Uniform, bring a snack to eat as you walk over - granola bar, something easy

  • 4:40pm Walk to the parade set up, just past the duck pond, before the church

  • 5:00pm Parade begins, we’ll play Fight Song, Sweet Caroline and Confident alternating with cadence

  • 5:50pm (approx.) Parade ends, cool off and eat

  • 6:25pm Set up in Dragonette block in the stadium

  • 6:30pm (approx.) Pep Rally begins

  • 6:50pm (approx.) Perform “Confident” for Dragonettes

  • 7:10pm (approx.) V performs full show (with all props)

  • 7:25pm (approx.) Pep Rally ends

  • 7:45pm (approx.) Back at the band hall, put things away and go home

Friday, October 11th, Homecoming game vs. Hutto

  • 8:30am Rehearsal ends

  • 9:00am School begins

  • 4:20pm School ends, EAT, refill DB water jug with water

  • 5:15pm Get dressed in full uniform

  • 5:45pm Inspection in areas

  • 6:10pm March to stadium, stop to play 7 Nation and Fight Song

  • 7:00pm Game begins

  • 8:15pm (approx.) Halftime, “Confident” for Dragonettes, Homecoming

  • 9:50pm (approx.) Game ends, V performs post game (with all props)

  • 10:20pm (approx.) Move back and store things properly

  • 10:45pm (approx.) Go home

  • 8:50am Arrive, unload, circle time

  • 9:25-10:10am Warm Up (area B)

  • 10:20am Report to gate

  • 10:30am Perform

  • 10:45am Find water jugs, reload trucks and buses and depart asap

  • 11:45am (approx.) Arrive at RRHS, unload, go home, eat, drink water and rest

  • 3:30pm Report to Band Hall, listen to judge’s tapes in sections

  • 4:00pm Rehearse in sections

  • 4:30pm Prelims Awards (Majors only) and eat dinner (provided)

  • Rest of schedule determined by finals performance time

    • 7:30pm Finals Begin

    • 11:00pm Finals Awards (full retreat)

    • 11:45pm (approx.) Depart for RRHS

    • 12:00am (approx.) Arrive, unload, store everything properly and go home!

Tuesday, October 15th, UIL Region Marching Contest

  • 4:20pm School ends, refill DB water jug and eat a quick snack

  • 4:40pm Get dressed in full uniform

  • 5:10pm Inspection in areas

  • 5:25pm On the field, ready to load buses

  • 5:30pm Depart for Reeves

  • 6:00pm Arrive, unload trucks, JV ready to move into warm up

  • 6:15pm JV warm up (area A), V eat dinner behind back stands

  • 6:50pm V move into stadium to watch JV

  • 7:05pm JV report to gate

  • 7:10pm JV perform

  • 7:30pm JV eat dinner behind back stands

  • 8:00pm V warm up (area B)

  • 8:10pm JV move into stadium to watch other bands

  • 8:50pm V report to gate

  • 8:55pm V perform

  • 9:25pm Ratings announcement

  • 10:15pm Load buses and depart

  • 10:40pm Arrive at RRHS, unload, store things properly

  • 11:00pm Go home!

Honor Band of America

  • The Honor Band of America is recognized as one of the top honor ensembles for young musicians in the nation, with a prestigious legacy and reputation for the highest level of excellence  

  • We invite all high school students to audition You can find audition requirements and application right here

Class Plans

  • Each week the V and JV winds will have class plans set up in this document

  • Use the tabs across the bottom for any given week

  • Students can look here to find out what we’ll be working on any given day

  • Things may change if the need arises to work on something else with the marching show but this will give you a good idea!

Region Listening Schedule

  • Each week the V winds and select JV winds will perform TMEA Region Etude selections for a director

  • The region etudes are divided into 4 parts, or “cuts” and 1 cut is performed each week

  • Region listenings generally happen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

  • Students can find the schedule here!

Grades

  • Students must remain academically eligible to participate in football games and marching contest performances and all TMEA activities. Should a student become ineligible they will still practice with the group during band class and in some cases, outside of the school day.

  • There are two types of official grade reporting - IPR (Interim Progress Report) and Report Card.  We are required to go by these official methods to determine eligibility.

  • The main thing to remember is  - ALL STUDENTS - PASS YOUR CLASSES TO REMAIN ELIGIBLE

Attendance

  • Look ahead at the rehearsal and event schedule and plan your appointments and tutorial help around it

  • The band's calendar is on dragonband.com

  • Attendance at rehearsals and events is mandatory unless otherwise specified

  • Absences due to sickness are excused with notification from a parent if the student has a fever, is vomiting or cannot otherwise get out of bed

  • Absences due to prolonged sickness/injury are excused with a doctor's note

  • Who do I email?  Mr. Mobley for Varsity Marching Band and Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony, Ms. Benford for Junior Varsity Marching Band and Symphonic Band and Ms. Bouhadana for Concert Band, Mr. Hammack for all Percussion and Mrs. Stone for all Color Guard.

  • Absences that are not excused-birthdays, completing homework, test preparation, pop concerts, parties, vacations, weekend getaways
