Hello Dragon Band Students, Parents and Families,

Steve Roeder began teaching at Round Rock High School in the fall of 2001. WOW! He was *maybe* 1 pound lighter than now and without any hint of a beard. And now, after 23 years here and more years than that overall, he has decided to retire!! This is a significant event for Mr. Roeder, his family, and for our band program. He talked with the percussion students last night at drum camp and with all of the students this morning before school. His work here at Round Rock has brought the percussion section to national prominence and they are outstanding every year, no matter what. He simply gets the job done! Mr. Roeder is a major asset to our band program and he is a marvelous teacher who is much loved and admired by his students. He is also a good friend and consistent , reasoned, voice for me and for our band program as a whole. He will leave some very big shoes to fill!! We will plan a celebration for Mr. Roeder as we wrap up this school year where we can all share the moment with him. For someone who has been here 23 years we're going to do it up right! For now I encourage everyone to send him a quick note of congratulations and well wishes as he starts a new time in his life, it's very exciting!!

Happy Spring Break! Congrats to the Varsity Winterguard for advancing to finals at the WGI Austin Regional last weekend! Congratulations to the Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras for earning all ones from the judges at UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation on Thursday! Way to go everyone!!
