Hello Dragon Band Students, Parents and Families,

Summer Band begins next week and Everything Day is next Saturday, July 29th!

Summer Band

Summer Band is our time to make new friends and rejoin old friends, bond as a group, learn our marching shows, begin learning region music, and basically start the new year. It is a three week program culminating in a parent performance. Summer Band is held at the Round Rock High School Band Hall and in rooms around the campus.

  • Summer Band Week 1

    • Monday, July 24th - Friday, July 28th

    • 8:00am-4:00pm

    • Lunch on your own from Noon-1pm

    • Varsity members (including color guard) also attend Tuesday/Thursday from 6:00-9:00pm

    • Everything Day - Special Saturday Event for Everyone - Saturday, July 29th, Everything Day, attendance is required

  • Summer Band Week 2

    • Monday, July 31st - Friday, August 4th

    • 8:00am-4:00pm

    • Lunch on your own from Noon-1pm

    • Varsity members (including color guard) also attend Tuesday/Thursday from 6:00-9:00pm

    • Special Saturday Event for Everyone - Saturday, August 5th, Band-A-Thon fundraiser, 8:00am-Noon

  • Summer Band Week 3

    • Monday, August 7th - Friday, August 11th

    • 8:00am-4:00pm

    • Lunch on your own from Noon-1pm

    • Varsity members (including color guard) also attend Tuesday/Thursday from 6:00-9:00pm

  • Parent Preview - All members attend

    • Monday, August 14th

    • Dragon Stadium (indoors in a gym if raining)

    • Section Photos 5:00-6:00pm

    • Warm Up 6:00-7:00pm

    • Performances begin at 7:00pm

  • What to bring/wear to Summer Band

    • Returning members bring Dragon Band water jug

    • New members will get a Dragon Band water jug (filled) on the first day of summer band

    • Instrument and music

    • Lunch

    • Comfortable clothing in which you can easily move-No Jeans

    • Hat-advisable to avoid sunburn

    • Sunscreen

    • Athletic shoes-VERY IMPORTANT to avoid injury from long term stress-No Sandals, No Flip Flops, No Vans, No Boat Shoes, No shoes with poor support

Everything Day-Saturday, July 29th

  • Students will need to bring their chromebooks - we will have some on hand as well

  • Section Times

    • 8:30am: Guard

    • 10am: Percussion

    • 11am: Trombones/Horns

    • 12pm: Saxes

    • 1pm: Trumpets

    • 2pm: Clarinets

    • 3pm: Flutes

    • 4pm: Teuphas

    Everything Day Process - student leaders are trained to assist everyone through this process

  • When you arrive you’ll go to the 100 Building Lecture Hall

    • We will meet together as a whole section at the beginning of your section’s time

    • We will go briefly through the Everything Day form together and answer questions you may have

  • After the meeting you’ll go to the 100 Building Gym

    • First visit all of the stations in any order you wish

    • Then have a seat at a table to complete the “Everything Day Information, Permissions and Payments” google form (I will be sharing this form with you at the section meeting)

      • Information you will want accessible

        • Insurance provider and policy number

        • Medical provider information and 2 Emergency contacts

        • School owned instrument make, model and serial number

  • After completing the form, you’ll go to one of 2 checkout stations in the gym

    • Cash/Check Payments to complete a google order form for all of the items you need and then make your payment

    • Card Payments to complete a “School Window” order for all of the items you need and then make your payment

  • After making payment, proceed to the 100 Building Student Center

    • You’ll pick up a practice shirt and summer uniform

    • Other items you’ve just ordered will come in at a later date, after we receive them from the vendor

BIG CHANGE for Everything Day! Read carefully

Our school district requires our band program to break up our money collection into two parts - 1) sales of items that students keep and 2) fees for services or subscriptions that students do not keep. The distinction is that items that students keep are taxable and items they do not keep are non-taxable.

If you are new to the Dragon Band, here is the list of required items (taxable) you'll be purchasing today. These are things you’ll be keeping, many that you can use again in coming years.

You may already have some of the items Extra or Replacement and you do not need to purchase those again, UNLESS you need an Extra or a Replacement.

  • Contest Entry $5

  • Transportation Offset $10

All Varsity members will pay a flat fee of $510 today, this is called Family Funding (non-taxable) and it covers the following items:

  • Wind Arranger $0 (paid through district funds)

  • Percussion Arranger $40

  • Drill Writer $4 (paid through district and student funds)

  • Marching Staff (paid through boosters and student funds) $45

  • Percussion Staff (paid through boosters and student funds) $120

  • Color Guard Staff (paid through boosters and student funds) $120

  • Music Licensing $3

  • UDB $20

  • Charter Bus x1 $75

  • Competition Meals x6 $60

Note: If you are part of our Varsity Crew, you will pay the Junior Varsity Family Funding of $135 and an additional $90 for contest day meals and charter bus

1. Pay at EDay online with a card (3% card fee added to all transactions) - select the appropriate items from the district's online payment portal and pay

2. Pay at EDay by cash or check (made out to RRHS Band) - select items on a google form, total and pay at checkout
