The Dragon Marching Band is made up of the Varsity and Junior Varsity Marching Bands.

The Junior Varsity Dragon Band was created 8 years ago as a way for our developing musicians and marchers to receive more time working on fundamental skills and develop their musicianship at their pace and has been competing at UIL since Fall 2022.

The Varsity Dragon Band has competed in the UIL and BOA circuits, earning spots at Finals in every competition in the 2023 season. They earned 9th place at the UIL State Marching Contest and 8th place at the Bands of America Grand Nationals Competition.

Our colorguard section also competes in the TCGC and WGI circuits and is instructed by Whitney Stone.

Round Rock High School currently has four concerts bands, all seated by ability level. They have consistently earned superior ratings at UIL Concert & Sightreading Evaluations. During our concert season, our bands perform at five major concerts - Holiday, Winter, Pre-UIL, UIL and Spring.

We also offer the Young Artists Competition. YAC is designed to showcase our individual musicians at the end of the spring semester. Students perform high level solos (and this year small ensembles) in a competitive Prelims/Semis/Finals format.

At Round Rock High School, we are fortunate to also have a strong orchestra program with which our students perform in Full Orchestra. The two full orchestras consistently earn Sweepstakes at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluations in early March.

All our Chamber Groups are student led. The number and instrumentation of groups changes from year to year.

In 2016, the Trombone Choir performed at The Midwest Clinic. They have also been invited to the Big 12 Trombone Conference multiple times. In 2018 and 2023, the Saxophone Choir was invited to perform at The Midwest Clinic. 2023 is the first year our Clarinet Choir has been invited to perform at the Midwest Clinic.
