YAC Format Change
We’ve chosen to move to a recital format for solos and ensembles instead of a competition
We’ll hold recitals for soloists and small ensembles later in the spring, likely in April or May
Recitals will take place at school over multiple evenings, scheduled according to band class
Parents and other students are encouraged to attend!
Students will not pay an entry fee or use an accompanist, nor will the event be judged
We’ll make recordings of the performances so we can review them later in class and ask students to evaluate their own performance
Although performing with an accompanist is a wonderful musical skill, students will perform without one for this event
All students will be asked to perform a short solo or an ensemble, even a duet is acceptable, and we will help students find material to perform
The goal is for all of our students to perform in some capacity and for the event to emphasize music making as a positive and joyful experience!
