Hello Dragon Band Students, Parents and Families,
We’ve had another strong week of classes and that’s good because there aren’t many rehearsals until our February 12th concert! Students should be practicing their instruments at home.
We talked in classes this weeks about YAC - Young Artists Competition. We’d like for as many students to participate as possible!
Mulch Sale
Thank you once again to all who sold mulch. Congratulations to our top 10 sellers and top finishing sections!
Here’s the recap of all that was sold
Up next will be mulch pick up on Friday, March 1st and then DELIVERY on Saturday, March 2nd.
Sign ups will be posted soon for both pick up and delivery times
Next Week in Band Classes
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the band directors will be at TMEA
Students in band classes those three days need to bring homework and study materials they can do on their own
Students should also plan to practice individually on their band music and alternate their time practicing with time studying
Students must remain in the band hall unless they have private lessons
A substitute will be supervising the classes
Young Artists Competition
We encourage ALL of our students to participate in this event as it greatly further their musical skills and development
This is our own solo and ensemble contest and we have talked through the event in our classes
Sign ups are now open and can be found here, the password is DB2324 since this is in the Members section of our website
Prelims- Thursday, April 18th: Semifinals- Friday, May 3rd; Finals- Tuesday, May 14th
The contest format allows for soloists AND small ensembles

Woodwind Day at UMHB
Sunday, February 25 from 1-6 pm in Belton, TX - Open to clarinet, saxophone, and flute players
Students will have the opportunity to play in a large flute, clarinet, or saxophone choir (all attendees participating, all ages and abilities!)
There is also a masterclass for each instrument - if students are interested in participating in this, email hcjanysek@gmail.com.

KE Camps Counselor
30 campers at the Balcones Country Club in Austin, TX for ages 5-11.
Camp will run Tuesday-Friday from June 4 - August 2. (The times overlap with summer band and London but they’ve said you could still apply if you’re interested)
