I apologize in advance for the length and amount of information below.  There's just a lot of ground to cover and a lot of people to cover it with!!!

VERY IMPORTANT-Join your group's remind

  • From here on out I'll be posting weekly updates (ie-this email) in a blog format on the website.  You'll visit there for your weekly dose of band info.  I'll send a remind message out when I've posted a News and Updates message on the site

  • The weekly information will still be pushed out - via REMIND - when you get the remind message, go to the site and read the info

  • SO, you'll need to join your group's remind so you can access the weekly update through the members page of the site

For Next Year's Students and Families

Varsity members will pay a $200 deposit for their fall competition uniform

  • Online payment for this will soon be available here:  https://roundrockisdtx.schoolwindow.com/estore/rrhs/rrhs-band.html

  • Payments may also be sent to Round Rock HS c/o Band 201 Deepwood Dr, RR, TX 78681

  • Checks may be made out to "RRHS Band"

  • This deposit allows us to begin production on these uniforms in a timely manner

  • The deposit is due by Friday, May 5th

Instrument Pick Up - Friday, May 26th - 10am-2pm

We have an inventory of school owned instruments that some students will need to check out

If your student plays one of the following instruments, they will need to check one out from us

  • Piccolo-only with director approval

  • Bass Clarinet

  • Oboe

  • Bassoon

  • Tenor Sax-only with director approval

  • Bari Sax-only with director approval

  • French Horn

  • Mellophone

  • Marching Trumpet-all Varsity trumpets

  • Bass Trombone-only with director approval

  • Marching Euphonium-Varsity trombones and euphoniums

  • Marching Baritone-some Varsity trombones and euphoniums and all JV euphoniums

  • You will be completing your Everything Day forms online

  • Students will need to bring their chromebooks - we will have some on hand as well

  • You have the option to pay online or in person by cash or check, but the forms will still be completed online

  • 12pm: Saxes

  • 1pm: Trumpets

  • 2pm: Clarinets

Here is what the Everything Day form will say about payments and item ordering.  If you are returning, you may be paying less at EDay than first year students.

Our school district requires our band program to break up sales of items that students keep and fees of services or subscriptions that students do not keep into two categories.  The distinction is that items that students keep are taxable and items they do not keep are non-taxable.

If you are new to the Dragon Band, here is the list of required items (taxable) you'll be purchasing today:

  • Show shirt $11

  • White gloves (required for V only) $10

  • Black gloves $10

  • Fanny pack $4

  • Section shirt $11

  • Band a Thon shirt $11

  • DB practice shirt $11

  • DB polo (part of summer uniform) $18

  • DB hat (part of summer uniform) $11

  • DB shorts (part of summer uniform) $13

  • Dinkles or Guard Shoes $38

  • Guard Warm Ups $125* TBD

  • Varsity costume if not paid in May (required for V only) $200

  • Transportation Offset $10

All Varsity members will pay a flat fee of $510 today, this is called Family Funding (non-taxable) and it covers the following items:

  • Wind Arranger $0 (paid through district funds)

  • Percussion Arranger $40

  • Drill Writer $4 (paid through district and student funds)

  • Marching Staff (paid through boosters and student funds) $45

  • Percussion Staff (paid through boosters and student funds) $120

  • Color Guard Staff (paid through boosters and student funds) $120

  • Music Licensing $3

  • UDB $20

  • Charter Bus x1 $75

  • Competition Meals x6 $60

  • Contest Entry $3

  • Transportation Offset $10

  • Clinicians $10

Note:  If you are part of our Varsity Crew, you will pay the Junior Varsity Family Funding of $135 and an additional $90 for contest day meals and charter bus

From here, you'll be selecting one of two options to complete item ordering and payment.

1. Pay today online with a card (3% card fee added to all transactions) - select the appropriate items from the district's online payment portal and pay

2. Pay today by cash or check (made out to RRHS Band) -  select items on a google form, total and pay at checkout

Spring Concert - Friday, May 12th

  • RRISD Hartfield PAC, 6:30pm

  • Multiple chamber ensembles will perform in the lobby prior to the concert

  • 6:10pm CB arrive, store cases, warm up on stage at 6:15pm

  • 6:15pm SB arrive, store cases, warm up in the green room at 6:25pm

  • 6:20pm WS and WE arrive, store instruments (in cases), sit in audience by 6:30pm

  • After CB, WS moves to green room for warm up, approx. 6:45pm

  • Midwest Sax Choir will perform after CB

  • After SB, WE moves to green room for warm up, approx. 7:15pm

  • Midwest Clarinet Choir will perform after SB

Uniform Help - still in need of some parent volunteers

  • We are searching for several people to help with uniforms for next year.

  • 1) 2 people to help and shadow Laura Garland for next school year's marching season.

  • Work has already begun with sizing but there's lots more to do and Mrs. Garland will need some help and someone to train for when she's graduated

  • AND 2) A parent to head up Concert Uniform Fittings next year. The job starts late in the fall, and entails:

  • Line up volunteers (Sign-Up Genius works great) to help with fittings during class periods. The best time is at the end of marching season.

  • Line up volunteers to hand hem uniforms as marked. Boosters will have a list of volunteers to draw from for this.

  • Repair hems as needed through the concert season.

  • Come back the first week of summer and put away returned uniforms in the uniform room.

More Uniform Info-for STUDENTS

Concert Uniforms

  • Seniors and students not participating in graduation ceremonies should return their concert uniform the week of May 15. Please return it clean, using the instructions below.

  • Leave the bow tie in the back pocket of the bag, and remove all personal items, such as socks, shoes, white shirts, tissues, reeds, etc.

  • Tuxedo

  • Jacket – DRY CLEAN ONLY

  • Pants – Either machine wash, gentle cycle, cold water and line dry OR dry- clean

  • dry- clean

  • Dress:

  • Either machine wash/gentle cycle/cold water/line dry OR dry clean. When you return it to school, pull the bottom of the dress out of the bag, so it doesn’t stay crumpled in the bottom of the uniform bag.

  • HEB Center in Cedar Park, 8:00pm start

  • Next year's WE and WS will perform, without percussion

  • 5:30pm Arrive at the band hall, dressed in formal wear with a change of clothes

  • 5:35pm Run through graduation music

  • 6:15pm Ready to load buses - Flutes, Double Reeds and Saxes bus 1, Clarinets and Trumpets bus 2, Horns and Low Brass bus 3

  • 6:25pm Load and Depart

  • 7:00pm Arrive, unload, set up, restrooms

  • 7:45pm Prelude music

  • 8:00pm Graduation begins

  • 10:55pm (approx.) Graduation ends, Postlude music

  • 11:00pm (approx.) Load buses and depart asap

  • 12:00am (approx.) Arrive, unload

  • BEFORE LEAVING FOR THE NIGHT:  Change out of formal wear, store on racks, turn in school owned instrument

  • This is the ultimate Teupha Camp experience – a full week of music-making with over 120 students

Attendance

  • Look ahead at the rehearsal and event schedule and plan your appointments and tutorial help around it please

  • Attendance at rehearsals and events is mandatory unless otherwise specified

  • Absences due to sickness are excused with notification from a parent if the student has a fever, is vomiting or cannot otherwise get out of bed

  • Absences due to prolonged sickness/injury are excused with a doctor's note
