    Andrew Vu is an accomplished high school musician. Aside from being the Director of the Round Rock High School Saxophone Choir, he is also Drum Major of the RRHS Varsity Dragon Band. Andrew's accomplishments include being a member of the RRHS Wind Ensemble, 2022 TMEA All-State Symphonic Band, 1st place in the RRHS Young Artists Competition, Woodwind Division, and being a finalist in the Houston Underground Saxophone Competition. He thanks his private lessons teacher, Luc Billette, for his unwavering support.

    Described by noted American composer Libby Larsen as “fearless on stage,” saxophonist Stephen Page has garnered international prominence as one of today’s leading saxophonists. Dr. Page has concertized across five continents, in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, Australia, the Canary Islands, and throughout the United States.

    Well known for his interpretations of new and emerging repertoire for the instrument, Stephen has also gained acclaim for his innovative arrangements and performances of the violin repertoire, including works by Strauss, Grieg, Franck, Prokofiev, and Bach. He continues to further the advancement of the saxophone repertoire through the commissioning of new works from composers such as Viet Cuong, John Mackey, David Lang, Gala Flagello, David Maslanka, Sarah Gibson, Marc Mellits, Ida Gotkovsky, and Martin Bresnick.

    Stephen has earned prizes in more than ten international and national competitions, including the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist and Chamber Music Competitions, the North American Saxophone Alliance Solo and Quartet Competitions, the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition, and the AUREC Saxophone Competition, among many others.

    As the Alto Saxophone chair of the critically acclaimed Zzyzx Quartet, Stephen has appeared internationally in venues both public and academic. Zzyzx has been featured in concert at meetings of the North American Saxophone Alliance, and the World Saxophone Congress, along with extensive touring throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan. Zzyzx Quartet was selected to serve on the panel of the Barlow Endowment, and was dedicatee of the winner, Ben Hjertmann’s new work for saxophone quartet, “Awake, Alive, Amok, Ajar”.

    Dr. Page has released more than fifteen recordings as a soloist and chamber musician which can be heard on the Enharmonic, Teal Creek, Crystal Music, and AUR Labels. His recent recording of concerti by John Adams and John Mackey will soon be released with NAXOS, and a current project of works by Fazil Say, Miriama Young, Yusef Lateef, and Gregory Wanamaker will feature a dual release of both digital audio, and cinematic video.

    His experience and expertise in acoustics and design have led to significant collaboration as a Musicians Advisory Board member with D’Addario, serving as Design Consultant for JodyJazz/E.Rousseau Mouthpieces, and he has served as Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician for nearly twenty years. Dr. Page also serves as a board member for the Elise Hall Competition for Emerging Saxophonists, and has been elected to the North American Saxophone Alliance Executive Committee.

    Stephen Page currently serves as Associate Professor of Saxophone and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Butler School of Music within The University of Texas at Austin, where he has received the Teaching Excellence Award, the Foxworth Centennial Fellowship, and was selected by the College of Fine Arts for the Blunk Memorial Professorship, the University’s most prestigious award for teaching and mentorship.

  • David Mobley

    HEAD BAND DIRECTOR

    An Austin native, David Mobley is a graduate of Leander High School where he was a student of Dennis Hopkins and studied trombone with Russell Brown. While attending the University of Texas, he was a member of the Longhorn Band, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and the Trombone Choir and was a student of Donald Knaub. While in college Mr. Mobley was a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Rockford, Illinois and was also later a staff member of the same corps. After graduating from UT he taught in Houston, Texas and Indianapolis, Indiana. This is his 18th year on staff at Round Rock High School.

  • Vishesh Mishra

    Vishesh Mishra is currently a member of the RRHS Varsity Dragon Band and Wind Ensemble. He has performed with the TMEA Region 26 Symphonic Band and earned an Outstanding Soloist award at the RRHS Young Artists Competition. In his free time, Vishesh enjoys playing video games and hanging out with friends. He would like to thank his family, his band directors, and Kevin Gibbs, his private lesson teacher for their tremendous support through his journey.

  • Nathan Lu

    Sophomore

    Nathan Lu started his music education playing the piano when he was 5. As a saxophonist, he is a member of the Dragon Varsity Band, RRHS Wind Ensemble. He has earned an alto saxophone seat in the TMEA Region 26 Concert Band, earned a First Division Rating at the RRHS Young Artists Competition, has earned a scholarship and an All State Pianist title with the Texas Federation of Music Clubs All-State and earned a Superior on solo piano playing at the Austin District Teachers Music Association competition. Along with computer programming, he enjoys hanging out with his friends and would like to thank his parents for their continued support.

  • Luke Blackwell

    Luke is a member of the RRHS Varsity Dragon Band, Wind Symphony and Jazz program. He has earned seats in the TMEA Region 26 District Band, TMEA Region 26 Jazz Ensemble and has competed at the TMEA Area Jazz Auditions. At the RRHS Young Artists Competition, he has earned Outstanding Soloist Awards as well. He has also learned to play the guitar and piano on his own. After high school, Luke is interested in going to college to pursue a career in Music Production. He would like to thank his friends, family and teachers for supporting and pushing him to reach his goals.

    Karthik is a featured saxophonist in the Varsity Dragon Band and is a member of the Wind Ensemble. Karthik loves hanging out and playing games with his friends, and making music. He has been a member of the TMEA Region 26 Concert Band and earned Outstanding Musician awards at the RRHS Young Artists Competition. He would like to thank his family, Robert Perkins, his private lesson teacher, band directors, and everyone else who have supported him along his musical journey.

    Vishagan is a member of the Varsity Dragon Band, and the Wind Symphony. He has also competed in the RRHS Young Artists Competition and earned high marks. Beyond music, he enjoys spending time with friends, physical activities, and family. Vishagan thanks his parents, private lesson teacher, and friends for shaping his musical journey.

    Brendan Park has had an interest in music from a young age and plays both piano and saxophone. He is a member of the Round Rock HS Varsity Dragon Band and Wind Symphony and was a member of the Walsh Middle School Band at their Midwest Performance. He would like to thank his private lesson teacher, his parents, and his band directors for all the support they've given him.

    Siddharth began playing piano at the age of six, later joining the band program playing saxophone in 6th grade. He is one of the few freshmen to audition into the RRHS Varsity Dragon Band and Wind Symphony. He would like to thank his parents for their and his brother for putting up with his late night practice sessions.

    Allison Sweet started playing piano at age 9 and began playing the saxophone in 6th grade in band. She is a member of the RRHS Varsity Dragon Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. She has also been a member of the TMEA Region 26 Concert Band and has participated, with high marks, in the RRHS Young Artists Competition. She enjoys spending time with friends and would like to thank her family for their continuous support.

    Aaron Robles began the piano at age 6, switching to the saxophone in 6th grade. He has been a member of the TMEA Region 26 District Band and earned a First Division Rating at the RRHS Young Artists Competition. Aaron loves animals and thanks his family for their never ending support.

    Mahathi Mahesh has enjoyed music from a young age, learning the piano at the age of 8 and the saxophone in the 6th grade. She is a member of the RRHS Varsity Dragon Band and Wind Symphony, earned Outstanding Soloist at the RRHS Young Artists Competition and was a performing member of the Walsh MS Band at their Midwest Performance. She would like to thank her parents, her sister (who will be performing at the Midwest Clinic with the RRHS Clarinet Ensemble) and her private lesson teacher for their support throughout her musical journey.

    Guilherme De Lima Machado is a member of the RRHS Wind Ensemble and Varsity Dragon Band. As a freshman, he earned membership in the TMEA Region 26 Symphonic Band and earned a First Division Rating at the RRHS Young Artists Competition.     Neerav Mula has been playing the saxophone since the age of 9. He is a member of the RRHS Varsity Dragon Band, RRHS Symphonic Band, and an annual RRHS Young Artists Competition participant. Neerav enjoys learning about history, and practicing his saxophone. He would like to thank his private lesson teachers, family, band directors and friends for their substantial support.

  • Aditya Pravar Dhavala

    Aditya Pravar Dhavala began his musical journey with classical Indian singing at the age of 5 and began learning saxophone in the 6th grade. He is a member of the RRHS Varsity Dragon Band, Wind Symphony and has been invited to perform at Annamacharya Festival multiple times. He loves reading books, math, playing saxophone, and gaming with friends. He thanks his teachers and parents for supporting him and helping him grow.

  • Marcus Alagar

    Marcus Alagar is the percussionist for this year’s Saxophone Choir. Marcus is the Captain for the Front Ensemble with the RRHS Varsity Dragon Band and is the co-principal percussionist for the Wind Ensemble. He has performed with Walsh MS Percussion Ensemble at the PAS International Conference, auditioned into the TMEA Region 26 Symphonic Band and advanced to TMEA Area. He also earned 2nd place in the RRHS Young Artists Competition, Percussion Division. Apart from music, he has also created a mobile app that connects students and teachers within a school and was able to present it at the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference. Marcus also loves to read! For their gracious and continued support, Marcus is forever grateful for his instructors, parents, and younger brother.
